Iggy Pop

A turn-one storm combo deck — sometimes called “IG Pop.” The plan: chain rituals and cantrips, loop Ill-Gotten Gains with Lion’s Eye Diamond, build a massive storm count, and kill with Brain Freeze.

Dark Ritual adds BBB for one black mana. Cabal Ritual adds BBBBB with threshold (seven cards in graveyard). Lotus Petal is a free artifact that taps for one mana of any color. Lion’s Eye Diamond sacrifices for three mana of any color, discarding your hand — but you’ll get it all back.

Ill-Gotten Gains is the engine. For 1BBB, each player returns up to three cards from their graveyard to their hand. You return Lion’s Eye Diamond, Dark Ritual, and Ill-Gotten Gains itself. Crack LED for BBB, cast Ritual for BBBBB, cast Gains again. Each loop nets mana and adds 3+ to your storm count. Repeat until storm is lethal.

Brain Freeze mills three cards per spell cast this turn. After looping Ill-Gotten Gains five or six times, your storm count is 15+ — Brain Freeze mills 45+ cards, emptying their library. They draw on their turn and lose.

Intuition tutors three copies of the same card (or three different pieces). Search for three Accumulated Knowledges and draw four cards. Or search for three key combo pieces — they give you one, but Ill-Gotten Gains recurs the other two.

Orim’s Chant locks the opponent out of casting spells for a turn. Cast it on the combo turn and they can’t interact — no counterspells, no disruption.

Cunning Wish grabs silver bullets from the sideboard — a Brain Freeze if you haven’t drawn one, an Orim’s Chant for protection, or removal for a problem permanent.

Mental Note and Opt are cheap cantrips that dig for combo pieces and fill the graveyard for Cabal Ritual’s threshold.

Gemstone Mine provides perfect mana for 2-3 turns — exactly how long you need. The deck wins before the counters run out.

Iggy Pop is the fastest deck in Premodern. It can win on turn one with a god hand and reliably kills on turn two. The tradeoff: it folds to hand disruption and has almost no Plan B.
