Data compiled from 15 Premodern Challenges on MTGO (Oct 1–Oct 30, 2026-11-02). MTGO publishes the decklists of players who finish with a positive record, so match win rates skew above 50%. Archetypes are auto-classified from signature cards. Card images via Scryfall.

Mono-black more than tripled

Mono-black aggro (Moneyball Black in the table, our Mono Black page) went from 3.1% of the field in September to 10.5% (42 lists), the third most-played deck. It showed up in all 15 Challenges, made 17 Top 8s and won two: TheGenz on October 4 and Demian77 on October 6.

Its match win rate was 54.1%, so the extra players weren’t just filling seats.

Enchantress and Stiflenought, three wins each

Enchantress is still the most-played deck, 66 lists (16.5%), almost exactly its September share. It won three Challenges, each by a different player: walrusmadness (October 9), Demian77 (October 20) and PumpkinEater95 (October 22). Demian77 is the only player who won with two different decks this month.

Stiflenought climbed from 14.2% to 16.0% (64 lists) and also won three, two of them by SpockVidaLoka (October 2 and 18) and one by LuffyDoChapeuDePalha (October 27), who won two in September as well. It made the most Top 8s by far, 30 of the 120 slots, and had the best match win rate of any deck with 20 or more lists, 55.4%.

Biggest share moves since September.

The rest of the trophies

Terrageddon grew a little, from 7.0% to 7.8%, and won two of the first three Challenges (October 1 and 3).

Landstill won twice, both times for Navas (October 13 and 29), on 4.8% of the field.

The last three: White Weenie on October 16 with one of only six lists, The Rock on October 23, and RG Survival Madness on October 30.

Who fell off

Burn dropped from 9.3% to 5.5% and didn’t win one; its best finish was fourth. RG Survival Madness went from 4.9% to 1.0%, four lists, though one of them took the last Challenge of the month. GAT fell from 2.7% to 0.8%.

Psychatog held about steady at 5.3% and reached a final, but no trophy.

A month of Challenge 16s

Fourteen of the fifteen events were the smaller Challenge 16 (24 to 33 players). The only Challenge 32 was on October 1, with 40 players. In September it was ten Challenge 32s and seven Challenge 16s.

That changes what the data covers. The Challenge 16s publish every list, so this month we have 399 lists out of 408 players, almost the whole field. October’s win rates are a much closer read of how each deck did than in a month of bigger events.

How this data was collected

We gathered every Premodern Challenge held between October 1 and 30, 2026, parsed each event’s results, and sorted every deck into an archetype by its signature cards.

  • Which lists are published. MTGO publishes up to 32 decklists per Challenge, the top finishers. At the one Challenge 32 that left out the bottom eight players; at the Challenge 16s every list is in except one (33 players on October 3).
  • Archetypes are auto-classified by signature cards. Survival of the Fittest decks are split by shell because they play so differently. Edge-case brews go under their most defining card, and a handful land in “Other”.
